Wang Jinjie, head of the financial bureau at the high-tech industrial development zone in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, was removed from office on Monday after the zone violated rules on the naming of administrative workers at State-owned enterprises and changed its legal representative and board members without authorization.

Li Tian, 34, head of Xi'an High Technology Holdings, and two other female executives have also been suspended and put under investigation, the financial bureau said on Sunday.

Xi'an High Technology is an SOE with assets of 127 billion yuan ($18.41 billion).

In September, the company said it was changing its chairman, legal representative and senior managers. Li was named chairman, general manager and legal representative, while the other two women, age 23 and 25, were appointed senior executives.

The educational backgrounds, qualifications and work experience of the three women became a hotly discussed topic among the public.

The city's discipline department launched an investigation to look into their academic diplomas, qualifications and backgrounds.

A statement from the development zone's administration on Monday said a preliminary investigation had found the three women had no special family background and did not pull any strings before their appointments, which did not change their salaries.

The investigation is continuing.
