What's happening in the world next week
President Xi Jinping will make his first state visits to Brunei and the Philippines, Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Turkey, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will visit Cuba, DPRK plans to host international health and sports science fair, European Union leaders will meet to endorse the divorce deal with Britain, and campaign aims to eliminate violence against women.
These international events will be under the spotlight for the week starting Nov 19.
Xi to visit Brunei, Philippines to boost ties
President Xi Jinping will make his first state visits to Brunei and the Philippines from Nov 18 to 21.
Xi and Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah will have an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties and regional and international issues of common concern.
The two countries are expected to publish a joint statement to intensify their joint construction of the Belt and Road and people-to-people exchanges.
During his visit to the Philippines, Xi will hold talks with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, and meet with President of the Senate Vicente Sotto III and House of Representatives Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
China and the Philippines will continue to deal with the South China Sea issue through dialogue and consultation and support each other on regional and multilateral occasions.
