Large-scale photovoltaic solar panels have been installed on the Taihang Mountains in Shexian county, North China's Hebei province, to make use of large mountainous areas and to promote clean energy.
The installed capacity of the photovoltaic systems, which convert light into electricity, is expected to reach 321 megawatts annually. About 78 percent of the system has joined the national power grid.
It is expected to reduce 251,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year, according to the county's publicity department.
