KUNMING -- Police in Southwest China's Yunnan Province apprehended three suspected drug traffickers and seized 52.34kg of opium, said local police Wednesday.
Early in December, police in Tengchong city received a tip-off on a planned cross-border drug deal from Myanmar.
The police then launched a raid near the border Dehong autonomous prefecture on December 21, resulting in the arrest of three suspects and the confiscation of 52.34kg of opium.
Further investigation is underway.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crimes, as it borders the Golden Triangle, notorious for drug trafficking in southeast Asia.
