The Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Peter Estlin will be hosting the UK-China Charity Initiative reception in celebration of the year of the pig at Mansion House on Friday 8th February 2019.
The event is part of the wider UK-China Charity Initiative that was launched in early December 2018 as a partnership between CCCUK and The Lord Mayor's Appeal, aiming to strengthen the cultural and business ties between the City and China and to raise funds for The Lord Mayor's Appeal (50%) and a rural school in Shaanxi province, China (50%). Their share of the funds will support the construction of a multi-media room that will enable the students a place to host events, video conferences as well as other educational activities.
Chinese Ambassador, HE Liu Xiaoming will be attending and speaking at the event. As well as the Ambassador's keynote speech, the event will involve speeches by the Lord Mayor and Fang Wenjian, Chairman of CCCUK, musical performances, a live auction and raffle along with drinks and canapes. John McLean OBE, Head of China-UK relations for The Lord Mayor's Appeal, will act as the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The event will begin at 5pm and close by 8pm. The dress code is business attire.
