Hotel in Peru robbed, no Chinese casualties

A hotel in the Madre de Dios Region of Peru was robbed on Tuesday night local time. No Chinese injury has been reported there so far according to the Chinese embassy in Peru.

Some 10 gunmen escaped the Inkaterra Hotel after killing a Peruvian tour guide.

Tourists from a Hong Kong travel group, 41 Chinese citizens in total, were staying in the hotel when the incident happened.

Though there were no Chinese casualties, criminals reportedly took away a tourist's passport.

The embassy immediately launched its emergency response mechanism and will continue to follow up on developments.
