Pakistan’s decision to close its airspace amid rising tensions with neighboring India forced Beijing Capital International Airport to cancel flights to and from Pakistan on Wednesday and Thursday, according to civil aviation authority.

Since Wednesday, the capital airport has also canceled many of the flights to and from Europe because those flights were scheduled to fly to or over Pakistan’s airspace, Civil Aviation Administration’s North China Regional Bureau said.

The airport is still uncertain about whether the flights will be canceled on Friday, it added.

A total of 11 round trips between Beijing and Pakistan were made every week, with seven by Air China and four by Pakistan carriers, according to the bureau.
