Huawei's executive Meng Wanzhou appeared briefly in British Columbia's Supreme Court on Wednesday and had her case put over to May 8.

Meng's lawyer Richard Peck told a British Columbia Supreme Court judge the case is "rare" and comments by US President Donald Trump raises "serious concerns" about political motivations.

Peck said the case is complex and will take time, and as a result the defense and Crown have agreed to put it over until May 8 to fix a date for an extradition hearing.
