The work safety committee of the State Council has launched a nationwide inspection campaign for fire prevention during an implementation meeting held on Monday.

The meeting called for all levels of the government to set up work and coordination systems, and for all organizations of all levels and industries to inspect all potential safety hazards.

The fire control departments are required to carry out the inspections and set up a blacklist for those who refuse to rectify and improve hidden dangers.

According to information released at the meeting, serious fire accidents involving massive casualties often occur at nine public sites in China in the past 10 years. These include shopping centers, entertainment venues, hotels and construction sites.

As highlighted by the committee during the meeting, there are nine kinds of hidden dangers in those public sites, such as damaged fire facilities and equipment, blocked evacuation exits and inadequate management systems.
