Cold front to chill North China

BEIJING - China's national observatory forecast on Saturday that a cold front will sweep across the northern regions in the coming days, lowering temperatures and bringing heavy winds.

Affected by the cold front, areas of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River as well as the northern areas of the river will see temperature decline 4 to 8 degrees Celsius from Saturday to Tuesday, according to the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

The chill is expected to be accompanied by strong winds in those regions, according to the NMC.

Parts of Inner Mongolia autonomous region and northeastern regions will see the temperature drop by over 10 degrees, said the NMC.

The observatory said that sand and dust will hit parts of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and Inner Mongolia.
