UNESCO to hold meeting on historic villages in SW China

CHENGDU - A meeting on the future of historic towns and villages hosted by UNESCO will be held from June 10 to 12 in the city of Meishan, Southwest China's Sichuan Province, said the city's information office Monday.

About 180 guests including culture ministers and mayors from the participating countries, as well as guests from international organizations, the World Bank, private institutions and universities, will attend the meeting.

They will discuss a list of topics such as rural revitalization, poverty alleviation and cultural inheritance.

Meishan has a number of historic towns and villages and has been making great efforts to protect these towns and villages in recent years.
