A class monitor at a primary school in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, has been seriously criticized and removed from the position after she physically punished 12 students for misbehavior, the city's Longgang District Education Bureau said on Wednesday.
The class monitor in the fourth grade classroom at Hualong School organized the whole class for a reading session during a break on Friday. During that time some students misbehaved, and she decided to kick the students as punishment, the education bureau said in a statement.
The school asked the head teacher to criticize and educate the class monitor, who has apologized to her fellow students. The head teacher also has apologized to the parents, the statement said.
According to local news app Nanfangplus, the new media arm of Nanfang Media Group, the class monitor asked more than 30 students in the class to line up in front of her, so they could be punished for their misbehavior. One by one, she slapped male students on the face and kicked female students, the report said, citing an anonymous parent.
