BEIJING - China has issued a document to regulate the management of the country's official honorary and commemorative medals.

The regulation has been approved by the Communist Party of China Central Committee and issued by the working committee on the Party and state medals and honorary titles.

With 15 articles, the document covers requirements of the design and making of different medals depending on different levels, purposes and wearing occasions of such medals.

It also stipulates requirements for keeping and reissuing of these medals, as well as supervision and management in this regard.

Official medals are the carrier and embodiment of the recipients' honor and the management and use of them should be properly regulated, according to a statement of the working committee Friday.

The new document, to take effect on a trial basis from July, is expected to better maintain the honor, authority and seriousness of the Party and state's honoring system, it said.
