Improper statements on homosexuality once displayed on a bulletin board dedicated to information on HIV/AIDS control and prevention at a high school in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region have been removed, the local authority said on Thursday.

False descriptions on the five "hazards" of homosexuality, which included "Homosexuals live eight to 10 years shorter than the straight" and "Homosexuality is a kind of violation of the laws of nature and homosexuals must have a deficiency in character and unstable sentiments" sparked controversy on the internet after being exposed on WeChat.

According to officials at the No 2 High School of Hengxian county in Nanning, where the misinformation was posted, one of the school's teachers copied the statements from the internet without further verification and put them on the bulletin board. The school will replace them with accurate information, according to reports in the thepaper.cn.
