A mainland spokesman on Tuesday strongly condemned the United States and Taiwan authorities over a potential arms sale worth $2 billion.
"We are firmly opposed to the US' wanton interference in the internal affairs of China, which cause serious damage to peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits," said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson at the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office.
He said "The US should immediately cancel its arms sales plan to Taiwan and stop sending wrong signals to the separatist forces of 'Taiwan independence'."
"Once again, I would like to inform the Democratic Progress Party that any act of relying on the US to stoke cross-Straits tensions will definitely bring consequences," he added.
The Trump administration approved selling weapons valued at up to $2 billion to the island on Tuesday.
