Senior legislators study Xi's speech on Party building in central Party, state institutions

BEIJING -- The leading Party members group of the National People's Congress Standing Committee held a meeting Wednesday to study a recent speech made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Party building in central Party and state institutions, as well as to make arrangements for strengthening Party building in the NPC.

Li Zhanshu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee and secretary of its leading Party members group, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.

Xi's speech illustrated the great significance of strengthening and improving Party building in central Party and state institutions, pointing out the direction and providing fundamental rules for the high-quality development of Party building in the institutions, according to a statement released after the meeting.

Studying, understanding and implementing Xi's speech is a major political task for strengthening Party building of the NPC, and should be integrated with the ongoing CPC education campaign themed "staying true to our founding mission," according to the statement.

The statement also called for efforts to boost the sense of responsibility and mission in Party building.
