The award-winning musical Titanic will make its debut in China with performances to be staged at Beijing's Tianqiao Performing Arts Center from November 12 to 24.
Based on the stories of real people aboard the most legendary ship in the world, Titanic, composer Maury Yeston and and scriptwriter Peter Stone's musical focuses on the epic tale of hope and love.
The musical opened on Broadway in 1997, and swept that year's Tony Awards.
Thanks to the movie with same title, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, the story of the Titanic is very popular with Chinese audiences. The movie was screened in China in 1997 and a 3D version was shown in 2012. The theme song of the movie, My Heart Will Go On, performed by Canadian singer Celine Dion, is also popular with Chinese audiences.
