Rainstorms caused the cancellation of 16 trains in Sichuan on Tuesday, according to the China Railway Chengdu Group Co Ltd headquarters in Sichuan province.

The routes include trains running from Chengdu to Panzhihua and Xichang in Sichuan province, from Puxiong to Yangang in Sichuan, from Chengdu to Kunming in Sichuan's neighboring Yunnan province, and from Kunming to Xining in Qinghai province.

Since Saturday, rainstorms have lashed many parts of Sichuan, causing landslides on railway tracks of the Chengdu-Kumning Railway.

Twenty trains had to return or stop operation on Monday, said Xia Yongjing, an information officer with China Railway Chengdu Group Co Ltd.

According to the Sichuan Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, the rainstorms have impacted 24,000 people and resulted in the relocation of 2,500 in the province.
