The Ministry of Natural Resources on Friday ordered an investigation into how the hit TV romance Go Go Squid! featured a map incorrectly showing China's borders.

A ministry official said the map had not been submitted for approval before the show aired last month.

The map was used in an episode in which the actors discuss at international cybersecurity competition.

According to the ministry, the map used in the teleplay incorrectly located the boundaries of the southern areas of Tibet autonomous region. Map colors for Taiwan and Hainan were different from other domestic parts of China. The nine-dotted line to indicate Chinese islands in the South China Sea was also missing.

The ministry will launch a nationwide program at the end of the month to educate the public about national territory and the map of China.
