Tourists banned from sitting on Rome's Spanish Steps

China Daily Global | Updated: 2019-08-08 23:34

Want to relive the scene in "Roman Holiday" when Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck sit on Rome's Spanish Steps? Well, you can't anymore.

Since July 8th, tourists face fines of €250 for sitting on or €450 for dirtying or damaging the landmark steps.

This week, police began patrolling the area, blowing a whistle at anyone they catch sitting there.
