Editor's note: Weeks of violence in Hong Kong has disrupted and damaged the city's stability and reputation. China Daily readers condemned the violence perpetrated by radical protesters and voiced support for local police to take action to restore law and order.
Kbay (Hong Kong, China)
It was a chaotic, violent and lawless day in my dear city of Hong Kong. We had four police stations completely surrounded by mobs. Two were set on fire. There were numerous road closures and tollways blocked by the thugs. Tens of thousands of ordinary citizens and workers were made to bear the inconvenience all day long. My young son watching with me just now on the morning news:
Two policemen in their patrol car caught in the Tseung Kwan O tunnel blockade sat inside their police car looking thoroughly frustrated.
The thugs surrounded the patrol car, sprayed black paint with profanity on the doors, and shone their blue and green laser lights at the two cops.
My son asked me:
"Dad, don't the policemen carry guns?"
Hong Kong residents must come out to give support to the police, upholding law and order. It is now a battle for HK's survival.
