KUNMING -- Police in Southwest China's Yunnan province have captured a suspect for drug trafficking, with 15.89 kg of liquid methamphetamine seized, local authorities said Monday.

After receiving a tip-off, police in Jianshui county busted the case, arresting a suspect surnamed Yan on Aug 10. Further investigation revealed that Yan packed four barrels of liquid methamphetamine and some candles and paper in a carton, planning to mail them to another location for sale.

Liquid methamphetamine is a new form of methamphetamine, which looks no different from water. It is colorless and tasteless, and is more difficult to find when added to water or other liquids, according to the police.

The suspect has been put under criminal detention. Further investigation is underway.

Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
