NANJING - Marine police of eastern China's Jiangsu province said Tuesday that they had recently seized over 1,500 tonnes of smuggled oil products.
The oil was seized on the waters to the east of the city of Qidong, where the police caught 18 people involved and seized two ships.
Police found the two suspicious ships when returning from a patrol on Aug 19. They seized over 1,000 tonnes of oil from one ship and 500 tonnes from the other.
There is no evidence that the oil products were bought through legal procedures. Further investigation is underway.
