Spokesperson of the Commissioner's Office: Some American politicians simply want to see trouble in Hong Kong

It is reported that US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel and Representative Michael McCaul released a joint statement on Hong Kong, in which they praised the "admirable resolve" of the violent extremists, smeared the Central Government's policy in the SAR and pointed fingers at the law-based governance of the SAR Government. The spokesperson of the Commissioner's Office responded that the American politicians have flagrantly meddled with Hong Kong affairs, which are China's internal affairs, in total disregard of the truth and out of evil intentions. We strongly condemn such remarks.

The spokesperson said that facing the rarely seen brutalities committed by a small handful of violent extremists, the Hong Kong police had to use minimum force for the sake of social security and tranquility. Anyone without bias can easily tell right from wrong. Some American congressmen, however, have told barefaced lies, openly whitewashed the rioters, and slandered the Hong Kong police who keep fulfilling their duties conscientiously under a heavy burden. Would these politicians only be happy to see the police sit idly by and the rule of law in the city overthrown? Even as they make such comments, they denounce similar violence in their own country and support a crackdown with no mercy. Such evident hypocrisy, double standard and gangster logic will arouse indignation and contempt among all people with a sense of justice.

The spokesperson pointed out that the extreme violence in Hong Kong has lasted over two months and wreaked havoc on economy, society and people's livelihood. But some American politicians continue to cheer the violent extremists, which fully reveals that they simply want to see more trouble in Hong Kong and are the "black hands" behind the scenes.

The spokesperson emphasized that Hong Kong is part of China, and its affairs are completely China's internal affairs. We urge relevant American politicians to immediately stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs. Otherwise, they would only shoot themselves in the foot.
