Former tobacco official charged with bribery

Zhao Hongshun, former deputy director of the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration, has been charged with accepting bribes by Huaian People’s Procuratorate in Jiangsu province, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate announced on Monday.

The Huaian Intermediate People’s Court will hear the case at a later date.

According to the SPP’s statement, while serving as an official at the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration and deputy head of the Anhui Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, Zhao took advantage of his position to gain benefits for other enterprises and individuals, then accepted huge bribes paid in cash or other properties.

He was arrested for taking bribes in July.
