Photo exhibition in New Zealand shows China's education development

WELLINGTON - A photo exhibition on China's education development kicked off here Monday at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.

The exhibition covers four major areas of content, including the advancement of Chinese higher education, the current development of the selected Chinese universities, the international cooperation between overseas and Chinese universities, and New Zealand students' experience of studying in China.

The exhibition, one of a series of celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, shows the great achievement of the higher education in China in the last 70 years, especially since the reform and open up in late 1970s, said Dong Zhixue, the counselor of the education office of the Chinese embassy in New Zealand.

The exhibition shows the development on academic research and international education communication and cooperation of Chinese universities, said Dong, adding that more New Zealand students are encouraged to study in China to promote the communication between the two countries.

Top Universities from China, such as Tsinghua University, Peking University and Xi'an Jiaotong University have participated in the exhibition.

The exhibition is running from Sept 16 to Oct 4.
