Ballet films set for Beijing cinema festival

Seven ballet productions by the Moscow Bolshoi Theater will be presented during the Lumiere Pavilions Classical Ballet on Screen Festival, which begins Friday and runs till Oct 27 at Beijing's Lumiere Pavilions cinemas.
The seven ballet productions star famous ballerinas Olga Smirnova and Ekaterina Krysanova and include the established ballet company's latest works, The Nutcracker and Sleeping Beauty, as well as productions from the company's classic repertoire, including Don Quixote and La Bayadere.
Other highlights will see the ballet piece, Carmen Suite and Petrushka, the passionate one-act ballet by Cuban choreographer Alberto Alonso. Another ballet piece, Romeo and Juliet, by Sergei Prokofiev and based on William Shakespeare's play of the same title, also will be featured.
