Iran ready for further cut of nuke commitments: spokesman

Xinhua | Updated: 2019-10-21 18:55

TEHRAN - Iran's Foreign Ministry on Monday announced the country's readiness for further cut of its commitments under the 2015 Iranian nuclear agreement.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said that "we hope parties to the nuclear deal take special measures (to protect Iran's interests) pertaining to the deal, otherwise, we are ready to take the fourth step" to cut Iran's nuclear commitments.

Since May, Iran has made three moves to build stockpiles of nuclear fuel and enrich low-grade uranium to a higher level of purity, and also started up advanced centrifuges to boost the country's stockpile of enriched uranium, which had been restricted by the accord.

Iran's moves were a reaction to the US unilateral withdrawal from the deal last year and re-imposition of sanctions against the Islamic republic.
