"This is an invaluable gift we are giving the next generation. The effort to work together with the school shows that the Chinese community living here are interested in the future of the youths," said Arati.

He revealed that Chinese restaurant owners in the area had previously donated about $2,000 toward developing and equipping a library in a school in the same locality.

Also present was Wei Chao, the chief of the consular section at the Chinese embassy in Kenya. He commended the association for taking up the embassy's clarion for more local participation that consequently would create employment opportunities and promote basic education:

"Children are the future of a country and basic education is the foundation of national development. I am deeply grateful to the Jiangsu Association for their support, which fully reflects the high responsibility and the love to the Kenyan community."
