Chinese enterprises launch award to boost performance at Kenyan school

Xiong Yongwei, the chairman of the Jiangsu Business Development Association in Kenya, said the establishment of the Spring Bud Scholarship has launched a partnership between the association and the local school. "We hope that more students and teachers will be encouraged to study and work hard through this scholarship program," he said.

He hoped that the cooperation would boost future cooperation in guiding students to be positive and promote the healthy development of the school.

The students received $50 and teachers received $100 each. Koch said she would use the money to buy more books to help her study for her new class next year.

The Confucius Institute University of Nairobi also donated some learning materials to the school.
