BEIJING -- A training course with over 90 cultural workers from impoverished areas has started in Shanghai, focusing on rural vitalization via public culture.

Organized by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the course is part of a training program of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee from 2019 to 2020.

Based on the demands in the cultivation of the ranks of personnel for public culture in impoverished areas, the training course centers on the major problems in the building of public cultural service systems at the primary level and features classes tailored to suit those needs.

For instance, some of the classes would take place at public cultural venues at the primary level to create an immersive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

The training course also includes lectures, discussions and online classes on hot topics such as the organization and innovation of mass cultural activities, the promotion of digital cultural services and others.
