Yan Jianjun, a former debt collector embroiled in a high-profile stabbing case, claimed compensation from the man who stabbed him, Beijing News reported on Monday.
Yan Jianjun and three other gang members were stabbed by Yu Huan in April 2016 after they beat and insulted the 22-year-old and his mother when collecting debts in Liaocheng, Shandong province.
One of the debt collectors died of his injuries later. Yan suffered an abdominal injury and later underwent three surgeries, according to Yan's father.
In November 2016, Yan claimed a compensation of about 500,000 yuan ($70,835) from Yu Huan during Yu's trial, and was granted 53,443 yuan according to a court verdict. Recently, he requested 200,000 yuan in compensation from Yu at the local court.
Yu was sentenced to life in prison for intentional injury in February 2017. He later appealed to a higher-level court, arguing he acted in self-defense, resulting in a sentence reduction to five years.
In May 2018, Yan was sentenced to two years in prison for illegal detention along with other gang members.
