Yang Fang draws batik patterns at home in Danzhai county, Southwest China's Guizhou province, Oct 28, 2019. Batik, a craft inherited through generations among the Miao ethnic group in southwest China's Guizhou, has a history of more than 2,000 years. Danzhai county is a major cradle of the Miao ethnic group's batik craft. Bees wax melting, patterns drawing, indigo dyeing, and fabrics boiling are the main procedures of making batik by local people. The folk artwork is famous for its elegant color, graceful patterns and rich cultural meanings. Yang Fang, 52 years old, learnt the craft when she was 12, and was recognized as the national-level inheritor of the batik of Miao ethnic group in 2018. Through the years, Yang devoted herself into inheriting and promoting the art. In 2004, she opened a cooperative to train local women to master the craft. Her will is to see batik "blooming" among the people of Miao ethnic group.[Photo/Xinhua]
