Police in South China detain 30,000 in crackdowns

Police in South China's Guangdong province have detained nearly 30,000 suspects after cracking down on a total of 13,240 cases involving gambling, prostitution, food, drug and environmental protection in the first 10 months of this year.
Meanwhile a number of major criminal gangs that used to be active in South China were busted during a special campaign code-named Jufeng 2019, or "hurricane" in English, between January and October, according to Zhang Shaoxin, political commissar of Social Security Bureau of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Public Security.
