The latest round of the England-Shanghai Mathematics Teacher Exchange has seen a record 107 teachers from primary and secondary schools in the UK visiting Shanghai schools and sharing insights on elementary math education.

The British teachers will visit 70 primary and secondary schools in nine districts in Shanghai between Nov 10 and 22, engaging in activities including mathematical pedagogy seminars, class observations and workshops.

In February, 70 primary school math teachers and 24 secondary school math teachers from Shanghai will begin their two-week exchange in the UK, according to the organizer.

Shanghai's math pedagogy has in the past decade gained recognition around the world after students from the city who were aged 15 and 16 topped the math rankings by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in 2009 and 2012.

The UK government had during this period also adopted some aspects of Shanghai math instruction in their local curriculum.

According to official data, around 830 teachers from the two countries have taken part in the exchange program since its inception in 2014.
