BEIJING - Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan met Wednesday with US delegates who were here to attend the 11th China-US Political Party Leaders Dialogue.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral ties between China and the United States have moved forward on the whole despite a few obstacles, Wang said.

Wang said it is necessary to take a broader historical perspective to further deepen understanding of the world as well as each other's history and current development, so as to promote healthy and rational development of the bilateral relations and world peace and stability.

He expected the China-US Political Party Leaders Dialogue to continue to make contribution to this end.

The delegates, including former US Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke, as a representative of the Democratic Party, and former US Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Alphonso Jackson, as a representative of the Republican Party, said that the stable development of bilateral relations benefits the two peoples, and they are willing to play an active role in keeping active communication and frank dialogue with the Chinese side, and together find ways to properly handle frictions and differences and promote the development of the bilateral relations.

The 11th China-US Political Party Leaders Dialogue, which concluded Tuesday, was attended by some 50 representatives from political parties, think tanks and businesses of the two countries.
