NAGOYA, Japan -- Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Saturday that sustainable development is key to solving major issues facing the world, and ending poverty is the top goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

While addressing the Group of 20 foreign ministers' meeting, Wang said China has lifted 850 million people out of poverty during the past 40 years, accounting for more than 70 percent of the global poverty reduction.

"China will eradicate absolute poverty by 2020," he said.

China is willing to share development experiences with other countries to help push forward the global poverty eradication, Wang said.
