BEIJING - The frequent threats and intimidation by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration are depriving Taiwan's young people of careers, a mainland spokesperson said Wednesday.

The Chinese mainland provides employment opportunities, while Taiwan's young people look for better development, Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, told a press conference concerning the DPP administration fining 30 Taiwan compatriots working on the mainland.

Those Taiwan young people serving as assistant community directors in the Haicang District of Xiamen in Fujian Province have engaged in fields such as community building, modern agriculture, traditional culture protection, rural education and volunteer services.

In recent years, the Chinese mainland has provided more and better development opportunities to Taiwan compatriots and helped address their career difficulties, said Zhu, adding that the actions are widely recognized and welcomed among Taiwan compatriots.
