Former chief procurator of Jilin province expelled from CPC, office

BEIJING -- Yang Keqin, former chief procurator of Jilin Provincial People's Procuratorate, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office over serious violations of Party discipline and laws, the top anti-graft body announced Sunday.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a statement that Yang abandoned his original aspiration and mission, lost the bottom line of discipline and law, and abused his power for personal gain.

Yang violated the eight-point code on Party and government conduct by accepting banquets from private business owners and receiving gifts and money, among other things, said the statement.

The investigation found that Yang had seriously violated the regulations on the selection and appointment of officials and undermined the political ecology of the local procuratorial system.

Yang sought profit for others in business operation, litigation disputes settlement and personnel promotion and illegally accepted huge amounts of property in return, said the statement, adding he took advantage of his power and influence to interfere in justice, damaging the image and credibility of the judicial organs.

Yang violated the Party's organizational discipline and discipline on upholding integrity, and is suspected of taking bribes, said the statement, noting that he showed no signs of restraint even after the 18th CPC National Congress.

Yang's qualification for delegate to the 11th CPC Jilin Provincial Congress was terminated, it said.

His illicit gains will be confiscated and the suspected crimes will be transferred to the procuratorate for further investigation and prosecution, said the statement.
