Police have identified the three people missing in a ground collapse at a construction site along a metro line in Guangzhou, the capital of South China's Guangdong province, on Wednesday, three days after the accident.
Two men driving a vehicle were identified as a father, surnamed Shi, and his son. The third person, an electric scooter driver, was a 53-year-old man surnamed Luo, who is from Leiyang in Central China's Hunan province, according to the Guangzhou police authority on Wednesday.
The collapse happened Sunday morning at a construction site along the city's metro Line 11, at the intersection of Guangzhoudadao Road and Yudongxi Road, causing a cleaning vehicle and a scooter to plunge into a watery pit some 38 meters deep.
According to early local media reports, the two men in the vehicle also were from Hunan province, with the father running a street-cleaning business in Guangzhou city.
Rescue efforts are underway, with the cause of the accident still under investigation.
