Fu Xiaotian, a renowned television anchor with the Hong Kong-based Phoenix TV, recently released her new book, Meeting World Leaders, in Beijing on Dec 10.
The launch event, which also promoted the Hong Kong broadcaster's high-end program Talk With World Leaders, attracted 25 ambassadors and more than 100 guests from nearly 50 countries.
A graduate of Cambridge University, Fu has worked as the anchor and producer of Talk With World Leaders since 2014, interviewing more than 300 politicians, including Henry Kissinger, former US secretary of state, and Ban Ki-moon, former UN secretary-general.
Fu said she wishes the book will let more audience know stories behind the interviews, and bridge the distance between audience and the politicians.
"Politics is an art of compromise. So are political interviews in a sense: you strive to maximize what you get and minimize what you give, and you wish to do this always in a graceful manner," Fu writes in her book.
Eight ambassadors shared their views at the event held in the Beijing headquarters of Phoenix TV.
