Namibian boxer Kakololo eyes world title

WINDHOEK - After defending his African Boxing Union (ABU) Featherweight title against South African boxer Jeff Magagane on December 7, Namibian boxer Nathaniel Kakololo said he is now eyeing for bigger titles and one of those is a world boxing title.

Kakololo, 30, who has a record of 15 fights, 12 wins, one draw and one defeat, showed his class against Magagane who went into the fight with a record of 16 fights, 12 wins and three losses.

Speaking in an interview with Xinhua, Kakololo said he has done enough in his boxing career to earn a world title shot.

"I am in the best shape of mind to fight for any title that comes my way. I thought against Magagane I have showed everyone that I am good enough to fight for a world title sooner rather than later.

"I worked very hard to be where I am right now. For me is to fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) as I am expected to be ranked at least in the top 16 as I am currently ranked 36, but after the win over Magagane, it means that I am expected to move up places.

"One can only fight for a world title if ranked in the top 15. Hopefully next year I will win a fight and even move into the top 10 if possible," said Kakololo.
