Essays, old images of overseas Chinese go on display in Beijing

An exhibition featuring essays and old photos of overseas Chinese kicked off at the Overseas Chinese History Museum of China in Beijing on Tuesday.
The exhibition includes the photos of overseas Chinese taken with five-star red flags worldwide, historical images of overseas Chinese and essays written by them about their own stories with the motherland.
The photos and essays on display were collected from netizens from across the world, covering about 40 countries and regions, including the United States, Australia, France, Nigeria and Cambodia, according to the organizer.
Wan Lijun, chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, attended the opening ceremony on Tuesday and he spoke highly of the contributions made by the overseas Chinese to the development of the motherland in the past 70 years.
Wan said over the years, generations of overseas Chinese, returned overseas Chinese and the family members of them have inherited the fine traditions of the Chinese nation, never forgetting the motherland and their hometowns.
They have made great and unique contributions to the cause of Chinese revolution, construction and reform, he said.
"The essays and old photos on display really express the deep feelings of thousands of overseas Chinese for their motherland," he added.
The exhibition will last until Sunday.
