Shanghai debuts hop-on hop-off cruise tour

SHANGHAI -- A hop-on and hop-off cruise tour was launched in Shanghai Saturday, allowing tourists to enjoy both the view on the iconic Huangpu River and scenic attractions on the river banks.

The tour has four types of tickets: one-station, two-stations, round ticket and day-pass. After paying for two-stations, round ticket or day-pass ticket, tourists can take off at one dock for sight-seeing on the banks and then take a later cruise to another dock.

The cruise tour liner stops at three cruise docks dotted on both sides of the Huangpu River.

Before, Shanghai's Huangpu River Cruise tour was a one-time pass trip along the river. The cruise tours have so far attracted 5 million visitors this year.

"The new cruise tour liner satisfies both the tourists' demand of sightseeing and transportation, offering them a convenient option," said Yang Mingwei with the marketing department of the tour's operator Shanghai Huangpu River Cruise Co.

According to Yang, the hop-on and hop-off tour is planned to engage in more docks along the Huangpu River to provide more choices for tourists.

It is estimated that Shanghai's Huangpu River Cruise tours will attract 6 million visitors in 2020.
