BEIJING -- The China Coast Guard solved more than 1,600 cases of maritime crimes in 2019, including drug trafficking, smuggling and illegal sand mining.

The CCG also increased patrols to thwart illegal fishing, punishing over 600 fishing boats.

In the meanwhile, the CCG launched a hotline in July 2019 to receive emergency calls and reports of criminal cases and other violations at sea.

People can dial 95110 for the service while those at sea, in overseas areas and places beyond the Chinese telecommunication network can call 010-68995110.
