The central government has invested more than 68.6 billion yuan ($9.9 billion) in infrastructure construction in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region in 2019, according to the regional government's work report published on Tuesday.

Qizhala, chairman of the regional government, said at the ongoing third session of the 11th Tibet People's Congress the region revamped construction of the Lhasa-Golmud section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, and launched two hydropower stations which will start operations in 2019.

Qi also said the upgrading of rural power grid construction has enabled the region's 66 counties and districts to be covered by the state power grid in 2019.

The report showed for the year 2020 the region will ensure its total fixed-asset investments will rise by five percent, and it expects the Ngari prefecture to be linked with the state power grid.
