The release of Beijing's subcenter plan demonstrates the central government's pledge to build up a high-standard international community and will further promote the future regional development, said a top official from the city's Tongzhou district on Monday.

"It is the first time that the capital implemented a detailed construction plan that involves districts, towns as well as villages," said Zhao Lei, director of Tongzhou district in a news conference at the third session of the 13th Beijing Municipal People's Congress.

Zhao said the district will step up efforts to continue promoting the quality-driven subcenter development under the detailed district plan.

In January 2019, the detailed plan for the capital's subcenter, Tongzhou, was unveiled after being approved by the central Party and the State Council, and is also the first regulatory plan approved from the central level.

At the same time, the capital saw its first batch of municipal-level government organs move their offices from the downtown area to Tongzhou and the second phase of administrative office construction also started.

A comprehensive transportation hub in Tongzhou under construction will go into operation before the end of 2024, and it is expected to become the largest underground transport hub in Asia.

Construction of the Universal Studio theme park in the capital's Tongzhou district will complete before the end of this year and the park will open to the public in the spring of 2021.

"We will give priorities to key projects and pilot programs, as well as high-performance companies in Tongzhou district to promote the district development," said Zhao.
