BEIJING -- Beijing authorities will limit disposable items in Party and government offices, catering businesses and hotels.

Authorities are formulating a catalog of specific disposable items to be limited, which is expected to come into shape by the end of February, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Management.

The decision is part of Beijing's efforts to implement garbage sorting.

Last year, Beijing authorities approved a regulation on garbage sorting, effective on May 1, 2020. Those in the catering business should not offer disposable products to customers voluntarily, including chopsticks, spoons and toiletries, according to the regulation.

A total of 237 Chinese cities have started to practice garbage sorting, according to data from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
