I am still studying for a PhD at Central China Normal University in Wuhan. To conduct fieldwork for my studies, I came back to Bangladesh in early January, just before the outbreak of CoViD-19. The outbreak was so abrupt that mentally, I am still living in Wuhan and all the sufferings of the people of that city are touching my heart every moment. So far, I have spent two of the most beautiful years of my life in Wuhan and fallen in love with the city, its amazing beauty and friendly citizens. As a foreigner, I always feel proud of living in Wuhan, the happiest city in China and my second home. I feel that the heart of Wuhan has still remained as lively as before, for I have been watching the people of Wuhan helping each other with their maximum efforts in these difficult days. China’s strict medical examinations and the dedication of Chinese doctors and medical staff are worth praising. Most particularly, the building of two makeshift hospitals within a very short period of time clearly portrays the country’s dedication to safeguard mankind. Many patients have already recovered after treatment and the disinfection process in Wuhan twice a day is expected to contain the outbreak. I firmly appreciate the bold efforts of the Chinese people in their fight against the epidemic.
Wuhan, Jia You! You are never alone. We all are with you! Our prayers are for China’s total victory in the battle against CoViD-19.
