Landmark buildings in Shanghai, such as Shanghai Tower, Jinmao Tower and the Oriental Pearl Tower, will resume their reception of tourists on Mar 12.

According to the municipal tourism commission, Shanghai Tower is open for sightseeing from 10 am to 8 pm starting on Mar 12.

Visitors are required to make reservations through their official WeChat platform or through tourism agencies recognized by Shanghai Tower, such as Ctrip and Meituan. Visitors have to present a valid ID to make a reservation on any of the web platforms. Reservations must be done at least one day ahead of the visit.

Due to the viral outbreak, the building will limit the number of visitors to no more than half of its utmost capacity. People will be allowed to make reservations and buy tickets on site only if the crowd quota is not met.

After purchasing their tickets online, each visitor will be allocated a specific time for their visit. All visitors are expected to wear face masks and have their body temperatures checked upon arrival. The same regulations will apply to visitors at the Oriental Pearl Tower and Jinmao Tower.

According to Shanghai-based news portal The Paper, the Oriental Pearl Tower will be lit in red for three nights starting on Mar 12 to "send a message of warmth and care".
